Everyone arrived, chose their spot in the 'dorm' and unpacked.
Then we settled down to an evening of eating, drinking and catching up.
We moved indoors and carried on eating, drinking and chatting.
Then it was time for bed - there are definitely bodies under those duvets.
Siobhan unfortunately had to leave early the next morning to take a friend to the airport but at least we had an evening with everyone together.
Friday 20 July
Penn Fest day!...
But first of all we needed breakfast.
We took a huge picnic along with table and chairs - and Chris showed us several inventive ways to smuggle drink in...
This is just a picture of Chris btw - she is not modelling her smuggled booze - that was artfully concealed in water and sun tan lotion bottles.
Here she is enjoying a bottle of sun tan lotion.
So much food (as usual!) we could have set up our own concessions stand!
A great afternoon and evening with the weather still hot and sultry but quite overcast so more bearable than the blazing heat of the Hyde Park festivals the previous two weekends!
Great bands and lots going on.
Most of the party decided to relive their youth with a trip on the Waltzer.
I held bags and took photos...
... this was a decision that Sue - and some of the others - soon regretted!...
Funny how that ride evoked so many musical memories - I always remembered Tap turns on the Water being played while we were on it, someone else remembered Band of Gold.
More bands - pushing our way to the front was not too difficult at this point..
Rosemary and I had a bit of a boogie and then she had a nap!
A light shower in the evening didn't dampen our spirits - but it was quite nice to have the field - which was a huge dustbowl - dampened down a little bit.
The crowds increased as they moved towards the bigger bands of the evening.
The headliners were the Kaiser Chiefs who just appeared and started singing with no announcement - with Ricky Wilson all over the place and seeming to fall off the stage at one point!
Not sure what he was on but it was very entertaining!
Saturday 21 July
We were joined today by Liz which was lovely - many of us hadn't seen her since school so it was good to have a very big catch up!
Ian stayed long enough to make sure that we really were going out!
Then we set off for the train station and a day in London.
Once we'd worked out the intricacies of the ticket machine we were ready...
The loos were impressive too...
Time for a quick selfie.

After looking at the views it was time to head off to another roof top bar to have a little drink - we'd earned it with all the walking...
Then we settled down to an evening of eating, drinking and catching up.
Ian braved the table full of women and seemed quite happy about it!
Jeanette and Sue demonstrated an alternative way to eat poached pears - at least I think that was what they were demonstrating...
We moved indoors and carried on eating, drinking and chatting.

And after a short train ride we were there.
Rosemary took us to a rooftop bar with glorious views of St Paul's. Chris and I looked carefully over the side before deciding that it was safe to take a selfie...
The loos were impressive too...
Time for a quick selfie.

After looking at the views it was time to head off to another roof top bar to have a little drink - we'd earned it with all the walking...
More beautiful views...
Not too near the edge... another selfie! But nowhere near the viewing platform.
We saw this go past and everyone had the same thought! It will definitely be on the list for next time.
More walking and wandering.
Carole made a new friend on the train on the way home - he even gave her part of his newspaper!
Back for another delicicious meal and a blind tonic taste test.
Sunday 22 July
Liz arrived in time for breakfast - bringing croissants and pastries - we were very happy to see her!
And Rosemary modelled her beautiful bag made by Oz Chris - which had eventually made its way to her.
So we had a leisurely breakfast and then started packing up ready to leave.
Another brilliant weekend in glorious weather with great company.
Thank you once again Rosemary and Ian for opening up your beautiful house to us and putting up with the (semi organised!) chaos!..
See you all soon for our next adventure!.. xx
