Three of us arrived at our Airbnb in Sheffield and met up with Chris who lives just a few minutes away - she was to be our tour guide over the next couple of days!
First things first - food! A lovely place called Kommune which had a great choice of eateries to pick from.
Wednesday 10 April
Chris came to call for us and we jumped in an uber to take us to the outskirts of the city - so that we could walk back along the river in the Porter valley and see some of the industrial sites.
A lovely walk!.
Beautiful spring flowers and blossom.
Botanical gardens.
Bear hug...
Standing on the steps of Sheffield City Hall - we all went up and down these a few times in our teenage years to see different bands!
Then it was time to collect Janice from the train station and get ready for our evening at the theatre.
But first of all - food! Italian this time..
Then a great performance of Calendar Girls with some very brave ladies!
Thursday 11 April
More walking round the city centre.
Plotting the next move.
Even though the city had changed a lot since our teenage years it was great to reminisce and remember our Saturday nights out at the clubs and music venues.
Also great to wander round the city in the competent wake of Chris who did such a grand job as tour leader extraordinaire!
So thank you Chris and thank you schoolies! Until the next adventure...

Selfie of Sue taking a selfie!

We were lucky enough to meet Tony Foulds - the pensioner who has been tending the memorial in Endcliffe Park for 10 US airmen who died there when their plane crashed in 1944. A lovely man.
Botanical gardens.

A quick lunch then back into the city centre to meet Sally and Carole.
Kudos to the women who manned the factories and machinery whilst the men were at war.

This is a publicity picture advertising the show though some may think otherwise...
Here we are with our buns and svelte, sylph like and wrinkle free figures...
Thursday 11 April
More walking round the city centre.
A lovely art exhibition and some amazing galleries.
An exhibit made of cutlery?? In Sheffield? Had to be! .
Janice liked the different musical pings as she dropped her money into the slots.
Some Ruskin, Leonardo da Vinci, Damien Hirst and Grayson Perry (or Perry Mason if you have a bit of a dyslexic memory lapse!).

Plotting the next move.
A break for coffee and cake.
Inspiration and surreptitious photos in the craft shop.
Then a last cup of tea - and a shot glass of smarties in lieu of cake - before we all set off for home.
